IMPACT OF AUTOMATION ON EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN INDIA

IMPACT OF AUTOMATION ON EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN INDIA

By: Yachi

There are both positive and negative impacts of employment opportunities in India. There is the requirement of skilled people to operate the machines and the people for manual jobs are required less. What is automation? Automation is basically used by machines instead of people. There is a cycle of demand and supply. The automation came into existence, there was need of required skilled people and then there is an improve in quality and quantity, decrease in production cost and a decrease in selling price. This is the continuous cycle of production. Before the evolution of automation, work was done manually and there was a requirement of more people. After the evolution of automation, there is a requirement of skilled people to run the machine. As there is automation there is an improvement in quality and quantity as well. Therefore, the production cost is less which is beneficial to the consumers in a way that the price of the product is less. There is less requirement of laborers and more requirement of skilled people for much easier and precise cost production. But what about those laborers who used to work manually in the company on piece rate system.

I believe the evolution of automation can make the task easier, but the company should never forget about the manual laborers who work for the company since years ago. The company should revive profit but not by others loss. There is a negative impact on manual laborers by the evolution of automation. The time is saved a lot by automation. For instance, there is a target of 100 pieces per day, by using automation 100 pieces can be made ready within eight to nine hours whereas if the pieces are created manually then they would get ready in fourteen to fifteen hours. There comes a difference between automation and manual labor. Manual workers are the supporters of automation, as automation cannot work without humans. Due to technology people are able to communicate easily in a company and so time is saved a lot and plus there is no need of an assistant for each and every small thing, it helps in cost-cutting in the company as well. People can hold business meetings on video calls, conference calls as well. This makes the cutting of the communicators and helps the company to save a little. Due to technology, the manufacturing cost is less and hence the price of the product decreases. This creates demand for the product. All because of technology, the manual workers are at a loss.

There are two extreme ends of this topic, both negative and positive impacts as well. There must be a balance between technology and manual laborers. There should not be any loss at laborers part and there should be sufficient and efficient use of technology as well. There should not be an excess impact of both positive and negative effects of opportunities of employment in India. Humans can work without machines but, machines cannot work without humans. We should not underestimate humans when machines make our work easier. The laborers which are been replaced by machines should either be given some other work or another post. They should not be thrown out of the firm, business, company, factory, etc.

The company or the business should not be that selfish that they don’t think about the welfare of their employees. There should be an adequate and efficient use of both machines and laborers. There should be the welfare of both manual labors and the company as well as meaning thereby the profit. The company should not rely either only on labor or automation. The company should make a balance between both and work in order to make a profit. The automation and labors both are the vital elements of a business or a company to run. The automation and laborers should play as right and left hand of the company. It is very essential to make a balance between them. The evolution of automation was not done to erase manpower it was just done to make work easier for man. There should not be a comparison between automation and laborers, there must always be compatibility between automation and manual workers.

Without compatibility between manual workers and automation, it is very difficult for a company or a factory or a business to run. I believe if there is no domination of either the automation over the manual workers or the domination of manual workers over the automation, then the company or a factory or a business can work on a good pace. It is very essential for a company that creates a balance between both manual workers and as well as the automation or the machines. Actually, there are both negative and positive impacts of both automation and manual workers, there is the difference only between the point of view of each and every individual. There must be both the right and left hand of the company to make it a great success. Because of automation, there should not be domination of manual workers, as humans can work without machines but machines cannot work without the help of humans. Never underestimate the benefit behind anything.

So just because the evolution of automation we should not underestimate the benefit the manual workers can provide to the company or a factory or business. Automation and Manual workers are the strength of the factory.
